13:30 Martin Klizan - Fabio Fognini 1 (2.00)
Martin Klizan delivered a great performance on yesterday, beating without problems the Serbian Viktor Troicki 63 62. The Slovakian was very confident, he served very well and also was impressive at return, 100% breaks points conversion. So Klizan is very efficient, has strong shots and good morale this week. Fognini won in 3 sets against Zemlja, it was very difficult job for the Italian that is not best grass courter. Fognini lost his serve 3 games in the first set against Grega, it is obvious that Fabio's serve is far from being a real weapon. Klizan is taller, hits harder and IMO he is the favourite of this clash. Also Fognini can get angry out of the blue during a tennis match and make many unforced errors in a row. Klizan is lefty, has this opposite hand advantage and won his lone ATP tournament in a final against same Fognini in St. Petersburg 2012, on hardcourt indoor, also very fast surface very good for best servers. There was a narrow win 62 63 for the Slovakian, that is better in almost every aspects of the game and prepaired to win again on Wednesday.
13:30 Jamie Hampton - Su-wei Hsieh 2:0 (1.70)
2nd round in Eastbourne, tournament on grass.
Hampton is in great shape since one month.
Indeed, she reached the semi-finals on the clay tournament of Brussels, then she did a good french Open where she beat Safarova and Kvitova and reached the 4th round, and she seems to confirm these good results here on grass because she just beat Agnieszka Radwanska yesterday for the 1st round of this tournament.
On the opposite side, Hsieh doesn't have a similar shape, indeed it's a difficult season for her with only 9 wins for 14 losses.
More interesting, Hampton and Hsieh already played against each other twice this season and Hampton won both matchs in two sets : 6-3 6-3 during the tournament on hard of Indian Wells in March, and especially 6-2 6-3 last week in Birmingham, tournament on grass of course.
So, Hampton is in better shape, full of confidence, and she has a psychological advantage with those 2 wins against Hsieh, so I expect her to win this match in 2 sets.
